ONE of the prominent kings in Bayelsa State, King Bubaraye Dakolo, the Ibedaowei of Ekpetiama Kingdom, will be launching two of his new books next Tuesday in Yenagoa, the state capital.
King Dakolo, who is the Chairman of the Bayelsa State Traditional Rulers Council, a retired soldier and a prolific scholar, made this known via a short video on social media.
The two books to be launched by the king are ‘Once A Soldier’ and ‘The African Voice’.
According to the king, ‘Once A Soldier’ – whose foreward was written by Lieutenant General Kenneth Minimah, former Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff − tells the story of his life, from when he was born to the early period of his reign as king.
“In it, you will see the benefit of friendship, stories you can get nowhere else when I was in the academy, in the refinery quarters, and key things about why Nigeria is the way it is today,” he said.
On the other hand, ‘The African Voice’ stresses the need for Africa to reunite and cease to be at the bottom rung of the world.
King Dakolo stated that ‘The African Voice’ is in such category with books like ‘Africa Must Unite’ by Kwame Nkrumah, and ‘How Europe Underdeveloped Africa’ by Walter Rodney.
Speaking in his palace in Yenagoa, when samples of the books were delivered to him by his publisher, the king said he was humbled to have achieved the feat of publishing two books in one day.
“It is great to have your two books delivered to you, and I hope the world will enjoy them as well,” he said.
Another book by King Dakolo is ‘The Riddle of the Oil Thief’, published in 2021, which tells the story of several decades of oil and gas exploitation in the Niger Delta and the root causes of insecurity in Nigeria.
