THE roles of the judiciary, as well as the media, have been described as critical to the fight against corruption in any sane society.
Speaking with TribuneOnline on the sidelines of the 7th Atlantic Dialogues conference in Marrakech, Morocco, General Economic and Financial Supervisor, Directorate-General of Treasury, France, Dominique Bocquet, pointed out that the judiciary and the media are major actors in the quest to tackle corruption.

“To the best of my understanding, there is no way the fight against corruption can be won in any sane society without the effective roles of the media and the judiciary. The judiciary must ensure that suspects in corruption cases are properly prosecuted without giving room for corruption to pile up by way of receiving bribes from suspects.
“The media, on the other hand, must keep a close tab on proceedings in corruption cases and ensure they are well-
reported and sustain the monitoring of the cases. By doing these, I believe the battle against corruption would be won gradually and eventually totally,” He said.
