Jubilation in Sokoto as court affirms Tambuwal’s election

The city of Sokoto was thrown into a frenzy mood as residents trooped out in large numbers celebrating the victory of Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal at the Supreme Court on Monday.

Our correspondent, who monitored the reaction of the people of the state noticed that immediately the judgement was announced in Abuja, it was a celebration galore.

All the major roads in the state capital starting from Emir Yahya, Ahmadu Bello way, Abdullahi Fodio Road, Old Airport, Gawo Nama, Gidan here and host of others were occupied by his supporters.

Speaking with our correspondent, Sani Aliyu, a resident of the state commended the Supreme Court for the affirmation of the Governor.

He described his victory as not just a victory for him but also for the entire citizens and residents of the state, especially youth.

“This victory is not just for our hardworking governor, but for the entire people of the state.

“We the youths of this state are very happy with this development, it has confirmed that you don’t need a godfather to win an election in the state anymore.

“We are calling on Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, to forgive and forget all that happened and take everyone as one” he added.

Tribune Online recalled that the candidate of the APC in the last general election, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, has dragged Tambuwal and INEC to court over the results declared by the electoral umpire.
