Former President Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former presidential spokesperson, Dr. Doyin Okupe, describing him as a courageous and dedicated public servant.
In a condolence letter to the Okupe family, Jonathan highlighted the late politician’s significant contributions to Nigeria’s growth and development.
“It is with a heavy heart that I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and associates of Dr. Doyin Okupe. As a Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs in our administration, he was not just a dedicated public servant but also a loyal and passionate advocate for the progress and development of our great nation,” the former president stated.

Jonathan recalled Okupe’s unwavering commitment, diligence, and profound sense of duty during his tenure in government.
“His contributions to our administration and his relentless efforts in defending our policies and advancing good governance will always be remembered. He was a man of conviction, courage, and wisdom, whose impact extended beyond his official roles and touched the lives of many,” he added.
The former president described Okupe’s death as a great loss to the nation, emphasizing that his absence would be deeply felt.
“As we mourn his departure, we take solace in the fact that he lived a life of purpose and left behind a legacy of service and dedication,” Jonathan concluded.
