
THE Jigawa State House of Assembly has received a request from the Acting-Governor of the state, Barrister Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia seeking the house approval to transfer the sum of N500 million from the Stabilization to the contingency funds to finance some critical capital projects across the state.
The requesting letter was read at the floor of the house yesterday by the Deputy Speaker of the House, Alhaji Ahmad Muhammad Garba who presided the house sitting before closing of the house for Eid-eI-Kabir break.
According to the requesting letter, the funds would be used to finance Capital Projects in the Judicial Service Commission, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Administration and Finance, Research, Evaluation and Political Affairs Directorates in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Ministries of Finance and Justice as well as the State Pilgrims Welfare Board.
The Acting-Governor stated further that the funds would also be used to finance the ongoing construction of Mosques under the 2017 Constituency Projects.
Barrister Ibrahim Hassan explained that government had so far utilized more than N343 million out of the N388 million and the N500 million Stabilization and contingency funds set aside in this year’s budget.
Hadejia urged the House to consider the request so as to consolidate on the success so far recorded in the implementation of the 2017 budget.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Speaker Alhaji Ahmad Muhammad Garba announced the adjournment of the House till 19th of September for the Sallah break.
