I have been waking up frequently to urinate in the past few weeks while I am always thirsty. I want to know if this is diabetes. I am only 40-years old.

Diabetes means elevated blood glucose and the common presentations include
Common early indicators of diabetes. Frequent urination, increased thirst, extreme hunger, fatigue, and blurred vision are common early signs of diabetes.
Frequent urination (polyuria): High blood sugar causes the kidneys to filter excess glucose, leading to increased urination, often noticeable at night .
Increased thirst (polydipsia): Fluid loss from frequent urination can cause dehydration, making you feel unusually thirsty .Extreme hunger (polyphagia): When glucose cannot enter cells due to insulin deficiency or resistance, the body signals hunger to compensate for low cellular energy.

Fatigue: Insufficient glucose in cells reduces energy, causing persistent tiredness. Blurred vision: High blood sugar can damage small blood vessels in the eyes or cause lens swelling, leading to temporary vision changes .
Dry mouth and itchy skin: Dehydration from fluid loss can result in dry mouth and skin irritation. Slow-healing sores and frequent infections: Elevated blood sugar can impair immune function, making infections more common and wounds slower to heal. Unexplained weight loss is another sign to watch out for.
