Is sex-for-mark a strange phenomenon?

The high rate of examination malpractice, admission of unqualified students and value for certificate has made sex-for-mark a favourable win-win procedure in our institutions.

It’s the last resort of a class of females that are now weaklings lacking hope and self-confidence to pass exams without help.

Dr Boniface Igbeneghu of the University of Lagos being in the news now is obviously a case that makes it look like all female students are unintelligent and are as a result prey for sexual relationship for survival and comfort.

Why is it that our society, especially in the North, ladies that graduate from the varsity without marriage are seen as “exposed”, spoilt and unfit to be trusted?

This sex-for-mark scandal is not new but many have turned the other eye for a long time. And unless victims are encouraged to speak out, it will continue.
