The President of Owomade United Association, in the United States of America, (USA) Mr. Oladipupo Adekanmbi, has charged indigenes of Owo kingdom across the globe, to invest in their communities so as to reduce poverty and unemployment in the society.
Adekanmbi who made this appeal during his inauguration as the new President of Owomade in the USA, said investing in their communities and Nigeria will bring economic transformation to the society and the country as a whole.
He urged people to rally around the town’s traditional ruler, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye, the Olowo of Owo, to improve the socio-political and economic fortunes of the town and to make the towns and communities greater.
Adekanmbi lauded the efforts of the Oba Ogunoye, noting that Owo has continued to wear a new look in successive years as attested to by the natives of the town nationwide and in the diaspora but added that the collaborative efforts of stakeholders can take the town a notch higher.
He, however, expresses gratitude for the trust placed in them by the membership of the association, electing him as the new leader of one of the town’s foremost associations in the diaspora.
He said he will continue to follow the footpaths of the past leaders who are committed to fostering collaboration, promoting innovation, and advocating for the interests of all members and the development of Owo kingdom.
“I am honoured to have been elected as President of the Owomade United Association.
“I look forward to working closely with our members, partners, and stakeholders to continue the association’s legacy of excellence and to chart a course for continued growth and success.”
He said the new leadership is to guide the organization to new heights of success and advance the goals of the association, saying the new executive will pilot the affairs of the Association.
The Association commiserated with the state government and Owo people at home and in the diaspora over the loss of one of its own, the former Executive Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu and pray that the good lord will give us the fortitude to bear the loss.
The election took place during the monthly meeting of the association with Adekanmbi emerging as the President, Osuma Ojo as Vice President and Okundalaye Victor as Secretary.
Others include Olanike Adegboye, Assistant Secretary, Temitope Ademola as Financial Secretary, Grace Olanusi, Treasurer, while Ayodele Oladimeji and Tayo Ogunbodede emerged as Public Relations Officer and Chief Whip respectively.
