Inuwa Yahaya emerges winner of Gombe APC guber primary

InuwaJUST as it happened in 2015 when he emerged the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Inuwa Yahya has again emerged as the flag bearer of the party for the 2019 governorship election against all odds and stiff competition from eight other aspirants.

While announcing the results Monday afternoon at the Gombe International hotels venue of the gubernatorial primaries, the Chairman, of the APC Gubernatorial Primary Election Panel in the state, Abu Bawuro, declared that the election was contested by Nine aspirants.

Abu Bawuro further said that a total of 1721 delegates were accredited for the exercise all of which cast their votes during the primary elections but 44 of the votes were declared invalid.

He then announced that Alhaji Inuwa Yahya polled a total of 859 votes to beat his distant second contender, Mohammed Jibrin Dan Barde, who scored a total of 463 votes during the election.

Chairman of the election panel also said that Faruq Bamusa, got 139 votes, while Abubakar Habu Mu’azu got 49 votes; Khamisu Ahmed Mailantarki got 9; Aliyu Haidar Abubakar got 5 votes while former Youth leader of the party, Ibrahim Jalo Dasuki got 28 votes and former Minister of Transport, Senator Idris Umar Abdullahi polled 68 votes.

In his acceptance speech immediately after the results were announced, Alhaji Inuwa Yahya thanked the delegates for electing him once again as the candidate of the party for 2019 election.

He assured delegates that he would work to ensure unity among party members for the progress of APC and urged those who lost in the contest to support his candidacy in order to ensure that the APC this time around got victory in the 2019 general elections.

Leader of the party in the state, Senator Mohammad Danjuma Goje, called on all party members to always protect party interest above any personal interest in order to ensure victory for the party.

Danjuma Goje said, “Our commitment to ensure a free, fair and credible primary election and such will remain because as a progressive party, we always do that for others to follow.”

The two terms Governor of the state added that, “As such we will continue to sustain such effort toward ensuring the success of APC and electoral process in the country.”
