INEC fixes August 3 for Plateau Constituency by-election

The Independent National Electoral Commission. (INEC) has fixed August 3 for the conduct of by-election in Pengana State Constituency in Plateau State.

National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee. Barrister Festus Okoye made the disclosure in a statement issued in Abuja, on Friday.

The election became necessary following the demise of the member-elect from Pengana State Constituency,   Hon. Ezekiel Bauda Alon after he was declared the winner of the 9m March 2019 House of Assembly Elections in the Constituency.

Okoye further disclosed that  Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Honourable  Abok Nuhu Ayuba notified the Commission through a letter dated 20th June 2019.

Okoye said political parties should  conduct their primaries on or before July 10  and submit the list of nominated candidates on or before July 12 while campaigns will end the first day in  August

The statement enjoined all interested political parties and their candidates to cooperate with the Commission to ensure a free and fair election.
