Sokoto State government said it will give high-level attention to education by spending billions of naira on schools construction and renovation across the state.
Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal stated this, on Saturday, while inspecting the ongoing construction of an additional block of classrooms and total renovation of the Government Day Secondary School, Tambuwal.
He explained that schools all over the state are being expanded and rehabilitated, while new ones were being constructed where necessary, in order to provide a conducive atmosphere for effective teaching and learning.

Disclosing this, the special adviser on media and publicity to the governor, Muhammed Bello, noted that the state government will continue to accord top priority to the education sector, to ensure a better future of children and to enable them compete favourably with their contemporaries globally.
“The governor also called on the people of the state, to continue to support and cooperate with the state government in its execution of policies and programmes in that direction.
“He expressed satisfaction with the level and quality of the projects which have reached advanced stages of completion.
“The construction work comprises additional blocks of classrooms, laboratories, exam hall, admin block, library among others,” he added.
The governor was accompanied by his deputy, Manir Muhammad Dan Iya, and some senior government functionaries.
