Ikole residents commend FG over new FMC, donate 20 hectares of land

RESIDENTS of Ikole-Ekiti, headquarters of Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State have commended President Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government for approving Federal Medical Centre (FMC) for the community.

Also, for the smooth take-off of the new medical centre, the community has donated 20 hectares of land for government to use in the construction and building of the facility.

The Elekole of Ikole, Oba Adewunmi Fasiku, led members of the community in a rally to appreciate President Tinubu for the upgrade of the Ikole Specialist Hospital to a Federal Medical centre.

The people, in their large number, carried placards with inscriptions such as ‘Thank you Mr President, healthcare transformation approved’, ‘Ikole FMC is a reality’, ‘Thank you Oyebanji.’

Speaking on behalf of the monarch, the Olotin of Ikole, who is the second in command to the Elekole, High Chief  Oluwasayo Okunola and the Asolo of Ikole who is also the chairman, traditional chiefs in Ekiti, Chief Olu Ogunsakin, said the approval of the medical centre is the best thing that has happened to the community in recent years, hence the need to guard it jealously.

According to them, the hospital will enhance better access to qualitative healthcare services by the people and fast-track economic growth and development.

The community leaders called on government to assist in putting an end to the security challenges, especially the kidnapping in the area and providing them with more social amenities.

Also, in their contributions, the Alamo of Ilamo, Oba Adebayo Awoseyila; chairman, Ikole Local Government Area, Chief Bayo Omojola and the chairperson, Ikole West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mrs. Mosunmola Adeyemo affirmed that siting the FMC in Ikole is a blessing.

They noted that the hospital will attract infrastructure development and create employment for the teeming youth.

Also, some women in the community affirmed that the new hospital will put an end to the era of travelling for several hours to Ado-Ekiti and Ido-Ekiti to get healthcare services.
