The Junior Chamber International Odua (JCI Odua) on Wednesday, celebrated the first baby of Year 2025 at Adeoyo State Hospital, Ring Road with cash and gift.
The project, which was tagged ‘Tunde Anifowose-Kelani Helping Hand Project 5.0, saw members of the group celebrate the January 1 baby and the last two babies of 2024.
JCI Odua rejoiced with mothers, families, and members of staff of the hospital as part of their core service.
Speaking at the presentation, the President of the club, Issac Timilehin Olopade, said the initiative is to make a difference in the lives of parents and their babies.
He said; “In JCI, one of the things we do is not just for the development of our members; we have different initiatives that cater to the community and today’s project is tagged ‘Tunde Anifowose-Kelani Helping Hand Project’ and this person happened to be the founder of our local organisation, JCI Odua and in the light of celebrating the new births, this is our tradition since 2021 and we have been doing this to celebrate the newborns and also we used the opportunity to extend helping hands to the families of the newborns and I believe next year edition will be greater than this as if very important to us as JCI Odua.”
The matron of the hospital, Mrs Modinat Olubodun, expressed her gratitude for the donation to support the Baby of the Year.
She said the programme, designed to celebrate and support newborns and their families, has become a beacon of hope and joy within the community by JCI every year.
The matron highlighted how such contributions not only provide immediate assistance but also foster a sense of community and support for families of the newborns babies saying “We are grateful for this generous donation,” the matron stated.
“It will make significant difference in the lives of many families who come through our doors.”
In her remarks, the mother of the Baby of the Year, Rukayat Adeleke, thanked JCI Odua for extending their hands towards her and other mothers in the ward.
“This is a great gesture that I didn’t even expect but it’s a wonderful gift from an organisation and more accomplishments in all their endeavours.”
