I am a 45-year-old lawyer who has been on dialysis for the past one year for Kidney failure. Now my doctors have advised the urgent need for a Kidney transplant. Unfortunately, Kidney donors are scarce. I will appreciate it if you can kindly advise me on how to get a Kidney donor.

Kidney transplantation is the standard treatment for end-stage renal disease. One major global challenge is the shortage of organs from willing living donors. Nigeria, a developing country has very low kidney transplantation rate even though some progress have been made in making the procedure feasible in about a dozen hospitals in Nigeria. Although the practice of paying for unrelated kidney donors has been discouraged, the practice is still going on with poor survival rates by the patients whose bodies usually reject the transplanted kidneys. In view of the sensitive nature of the subject matter, I will link you up by private mail with the Transplantation Association of Nigeria (TAN) which is best suited to help you.
