Dampte announced his hit making prowess with a single in 2010 featuring the ‘I Like Girls’ crooner, YQ, called “Wine your Tinkolo. “Wine your Tinkolo” made waves around the country. The timing of the song gave way to a new wave of talented Afrobeat artistes at that time. Dampte, known simply as Dampte in his early days began to make his mark with a follow up single “Wapa”
His absence from the scene about five years still remains un-explained but ever since back on the spotlight, Dampte has geared up his game and now becomes more relevant.
After several singles, he moved on to team up with the ‘Tetela’ crooner, Rayce, in another mind-blowing track entitled “Alignment”, officially released in 2017.
Meanwhile, while fielding questions from newsmen recently, Sean Dampte spoke about the challenges faced by artistes in Nigeria when they are still coming up, he said: “I remember those days when people used to refer to me as upcoming artiste; I am always intrigued but not angry like others.
I always tell people to check the Afro beat History books! They must sure find me but then again, you are only as relevant as your last success.”
“So when new artistes lament I say that happens often but it is part of the terrain.
