Hollywood actor breaks silence on Val Kilmer’s death

Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise has broken his silence on the passing of his dear friend and co-star, Val Kilmer, with a heartfelt tribute at CinemaCon 2025.

Speaking at the Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, Cruise honored Kilmer’s memory, expressing his admiration for his work and gratitude for their time together on the sets of “Top Gun” (1986) and its sequel “Top Gun: Maverick” (2022).

“I’d like to honor a dear friend of mine, Val Kilmer,” Cruise said, his voice filled with emotion.

“I think it would be really nice if we could have a moment together because he loved movies and he gave a lot to all of us.”

Cruise concluded his tribute by wishing Kilmer well on his “next journey.” The emotional tribute came just days after Kilmer’s passing at the age of 65.

Kilmer’s iconic portrayal of Tom ‘Iceman’ Kazansky alongside Cruise’s Captain Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell in the “Top Gun” franchise cemented his place in Hollywood history. His legacy will continue to be celebrated by fans around the world.
