The Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) has congratulated the Muslim Ummah in the country on the commencement of the Islamic New Year, 1446 AH.
The Chairman of the forum and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, in a statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General (Press Affairs), Government House Gombe, emphasized the significance of the Islamic New Year in the lives of Muslims.
He called on them to use the sacred month of Al-Muharram and beyond to offer special prayers for abundant rainfall leading to a bumper harvest, as well as for peace, unity, growth, and prosperity of Gombe State and Nigeria.
Inuwa Yahaya noted that the Islamic New Year is a time for reflection on the past and a moment to look forward to the future with renewed hope and commitment to the values of Islam and humanity.
Amidst the current economic challenges in the country, the NSGF stressed the importance of unity, tolerance and collaborative effort among the diverse people of the State.
The NSGF Chairman assured the citizens that the government would continue to work in their best interest, rolling out people-oriented projects and programmes that promote socio-economic development.
The NSGF Chairman also expressed optimism that the new Islamic year will usher in more opportunities for the state and the nation at large.
He called on the people to strengthen their faith and remain steadfast in prayers for continued blessings from Almighty Allah, and their commitment to the nation and its values.
