Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Friday said that some gunmen have killed a popular Fulani herdsman, Ibrahim, in Oro Ago community in the Ifelodun local government area of Kwara State.
The corps recalled that the gruesome murder on Thursday night happened barely a few days after the reported invasion of a farm settlement in the same Oro Ago community by gunmen where life was reportedly lost.
The spokesman of the NSCDC in the state, Babawale Afolabi said that the fresh attack took place on Thursday night as unknown gunmen in their large number, now at large, stormed the premises of the cattle rearer and left him in the pool of his blood.
The civil defence corps also said that the deceased’s brother lost his life early this year in a similar fashion at Ajegunle area of Ago Are, Ifelodun local government area of the state.
“Yes, we got the report on Friday through our divisional officer in the town, officer Najimu Lawal, about another attack in Ago Are. This time around a Fulani herdsman simply known as Ibrahim or lbro was attacked and hacked to death by the assailants,” he said.
According to the NSCDC image maker, a manhunt has been launched for perpetrators of the criminal act, saying that the NSCDC and other security agents would leave no stone unturned in order to bring the assailants to justice.
“The fresh incident has also been reported at the divisional police station and we are all working together to arrest the perpetrators and also prevent a further attack in the town,” he said.
