The NSCDC operative, Mr Rawlings Osagie, was killed Monday night at his residence located in Ugbor area of the Benin metropis upon his arrival home from work.
It was gathered that a four-man gang laid siege on Rawlings’ home, firing him as he made to open the gate to his house.
Brother of the deceased, Mr Aghatise Osagie, confirmed the killing, adding that Rawlings was shot in the stomach by the gunmen.
He noted that Rawlings, an assistant superintendent in the NSCDC, died at a hospital, where he was rushed to after the shooting.
Reacting to the killing of the NSCDC official, spokesman of the Edo State police command, DSP. Moses Nkombe, said the matter was yet to be reported to the police by the family of the deceased.
He however added that the DPO of the Ugbor police station visited the scene of the killing after the body had been taken away to the mortuary.
