Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted a farmer identified as Suyi Bamisaye in the Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

This latest abduction was coming barely three days after some guests while returning from a burial ceremony last weekend along Ewu-Ekiti-Ayetoro-Ekiti road were attacked by gunmen where one person was killed and two persons abducted and yet to be released as of Monday evening.

Tribune Online gathered that Bamisaye was kidnapped in his farm located at Okejebu in the town on Sunday evening.

According to a source, the farmer had gone to his farm on Sunday but did not return home and later the family received a call about 8 pm from the kidnappers demanding N5 million as ransom.

The source said: “At about 6 pm when they waited and didn’t see him, they started calling his lines to reach out but no response until around 8 pm when a call came in from the kidnappers demanding for N5 million before they will release him.

“The family is pleading with security agents and relevant authorities to assist in rescuing the victim.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, Ekiti Command, ASP Sunday Abutu, confirmed the kidnapping, saying the victim was abducted on his farm.

The PPRO said: “We got information that the old man went to farm on Sunday and never returned. We have been given information about his movement and our operatives are investigating the matter.

“We appeal to our people to be security conscious at all times.”
