The Jema’a Local Government Area chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has urged inmates at the Kafanchan Correctional Service to imbibe good virtues while serving their prison terms.
Mr Solomon Samuel, NYCN Coordinator in Jema, gave the advice and made the call when members of the youth group visited the correctional centre in Kafanchan on Thursday.
Samuel urged the inmates to imbibe good virtues so that they could become useful to the society after they get reintegrated with the larger society.
“The time spent here is part of efforts to make you better persons so that you can become useful and not a detriment to the society.

“I urge you to accept your prison terms in good faith, it will interest you to know that some world leaders emerged from prison to international prominence.
“As young people, the future of our nation depends on us, we must leverage on all opportunities to acquire skills that will keep us meaningfully engaged,” he said.
The NYCN coordinator assured the inmates that the council would continue to identify with them in the conduct of its programmes.
He presented some items and money as a token of support from the youth group to the inmates, saying, “this is our humble way of showing you concern.”
Responding, the officer-in-charge of the centre, Mathias Dzuzu, thanked the group for the gesture.
“This will go a long way to support the welfare of the inmates,” he said.
