A group, Youth Lead Nigeria MovementĀ on Friday, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to consider the issues raised by former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo in a 13 paged letter sent to him recently.
Recall that Chief Obasanjo had earlier this week, sent a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, where he raised many issues which he considered the President had not done enough to address.
The National Coordinator of the Youth group, Pelumi Olajengbesi during a Press Conference in Abuja, said “we read with appreciation former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s open letter to Mr President advising him against seeking re-election in next year Presidential election.
“Our position in that General Olusegun Obasanjo, having served in twice in said capacity and once as a military Head of State, is pre-eminently qualified to speak on the issues he raised, and present a scorecard favourable or not against the President Buhari let government.
“We advise that Mr President duly consider the issues raised and weigh his options and choice of action in light of what best serves the interest of the nation”
“We make bold to say we are ready to join the Third Force to liberate our country from those holding it to ransom. Our organization shall begin to mobilize youths across the country to this a reality”.
While commending the government for the recent arrest of the for Secretary to the Federal Government, Babachir Lawal, the group wondered why the arrest came on the heels of Obasanjo’s open letter to President Buhari.
Olajengbesi, therefore said “there is this temptation to dismiss his arrest therefore as a political plot to distract from the serious claims against this government in the said letter.
“While this theory gains traction amongst the general populace, we charge the EFCC to prove its critics wrong by going for all political criminals that populate the corridors power regardless of their party affiliation”.
On the Not Too Young to Run Bill, Olajengbesi said “before the National Assembly, the bill sponsored to promote popular youth inclusion in politics continues to suffer neglect. This is terrible Development that members of the legislature must haste”.
