Jigawa state Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, has distributed empowerment materials worth over 110 million to youth in continuation of implementation of his 12-point agenda presented to the people of the state before voted into power in 2023.
Speaking during the distribution ceremony to the beneficiaries at Muhammadu Sunusi Memorial squre, the Governor said that this empowerment “is aimed at providing job opportunities and reduction of poverty among our teaming youth for brighter features of our younger ones.”
Namadi said, “We are today as you can see, there are 91 number of tricycles and 50 mobile kitchens to be disbursed to those youth as empowerment.
“Government procured each tricycle at a cost of N1 million while the mobile kitchen was worth over 215,000. But the beneficiaries of the tricycle would pay the sum of N250,000 representing 25 percent while whoever gets a mobile kitchen would also receive N50,000 as capital to start his choice business”.
Namadi added that “there are 50 youths that will get mobile kitchens and N50,000 each. They were to pay the government N160,000 installments”.
The governor, while noting that the initiative was to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic policy reforms, urging Nigerians to exercise more patience. According to him, the suffering is temporary.
“The President of Nigeria, chief Bola Ahmed Tinibu has sent us to plead with you to please exercise more patience on the present difficulties. It is temporary, everything would normalize as soon as possible.
“The situation is very unfortunate, we are seriously disturbed by your condition, the government is doing everything possible to get rid of the situation as quickly as possible”.
Continuing, Namadi explained further that “it is really a hard time for both the government and the public. But we are optimistic that there will be a good, happy time God’s willing”.
He said the state government has so many precautionary measures including procurement and distribution of foodstuffs for distribution to people to relieve them of the current situation.
The governor congratulated the beneficiaries and encouraged them to make a very good use of the opportunity and be streaky on the terms and conditions agreed with the government.
