Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has presented vehicles to the Chairman and Directors of the State Revenue Service to enhance their operational efficiency.
The Governor made the presentation at Government House, Minna, stating that the vehicles would serve as a morale booster for the officials in recognition of their outstanding performance in generating over ₦100 billion in revenue within a year—surpassing the target set for the service. He described the achievement as unprecedented and commendable.
Expressing satisfaction with the Revenue Service’s performance, the Governor disclosed that the agency has been granted the autonomy to generate revenue, pay its salaries, and remit funds to the state government.
He, however, urged them to explore additional avenues to further increase revenue generation.
The Chairman of the Niger State Revenue Service, Alhaji Muhammad Etsu, expressed gratitude to the Governor for the gesture. He noted that the tremendous support received from the administration since its inception had contributed significantly to the service’s revenue success.
He stated that the Revenue Service is now autonomous and self-sustaining, adding that the vehicles would further encourage officials to enhance the state’s revenue profile.
Alhaji Etsu assured that doubling the current revenue of the state is achievable, especially as Niger State undergoes industrialisation and attracts new investments, which he said would lead to increased revenue.
