Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has emphasised the critical role of social media in rapidly disseminating information, surpassing conventional media in speed and reach.
Speaking at the opening of a two-day training workshop for social media aides and influencers in Sokoto, Governor Aliyu, represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir, highlighted the need to enhance the capacity of social media handlers to keep pace with modern trends and technologies.
The workshop, organised by the Office of the Press Secretary to the Governor in collaboration with Image Media Limited, aimed to equip participants with advanced skills in digital communication.
The governor urged attendees to fully engage in the training, emphasising creativity, professionalism, and adaptability as key principles for effective information management.
Chairman of the Board of Directors, Alhaji Shu’aibu Mungadi, underscored the media’s vital role in strengthening democracy and bridging the gap between the government and the public.
He commended the Ahmed Aliyu administration for its efforts in governance and stressed the importance of effectively communicating government initiatives through social media.
Managing Director of Image Media Limited, Alhaji Dahiru Hassan Kera, noted that the training was designed to empower and educate social media influencers on modern digital practices, with experts from academia serving as facilitators.
