While addressing a press conference in Gombe to declare his interest in the gubernatorial race, Abdul-Ghaniy Bello said he left the APC because the party leadership refused to follow the popular process of direct primaries in choosing its flag bearers for next year’s general election in the State.
Abdul-Ghaniy Bello, who now flies the flag of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) for next year’s gubernatorial election said he emerged as the party’s candidate through affirmation during the party’s State Delegates Conference held on Friday 5th October 2018 at Abmar Hall, Ashaka road, Gombe.
The candidate who expressed the party’s seriousness in the contest to form the next government in the State assured that the main thrust of the PRP government will be fighting ignorance, poverty and injustice.

He said: “Simply put, human capital development and rule of law would be the PRP administration’s major priority in Gombe State, God willing.”
He added that the party, formed in October 1978 under the late Mallam Aminu Kano had survived many travails including military proscription but that the decision to resuscitate and re-jig the party by a new national leadership under Alhaji Falalu Bello is to give all well-meaning Nigerians another platform to give credible leadership with an ideological touch for which it’s predecessors in the defunct NEPU are very well known.
The gubernatorial candidate further said that the Gombe State government which prioritize education has not done what will take the people of Gombe State out of mass illiteracy and ignorance saying, “nothing has been done on the almajiri system as well as mass literacy sector.”
