An alumna of the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Gold Nne has always had a passion for looking good, the reason she was even nicknamed “Lashes” by her peers during her school days due to her love for faux lashes. After graduation, she tried her hand in entertainment but never found fulfillment in the spotlight.
It wasn’t until the COVID-19 pandemic hit in 2020 that she finally had the time to pursue her dream of working with lashes. To gain knowledge and expertise in semi-permanent lash techniques, Gold Nne took online training courses. Her passion for learning was insatiable, and in 2021, she invested her last savings to become a certified semi-permanent artist. She began by offering free lashes and microblading to anyone who would let her practice on them.
After months of honing her craft, she established Beautyhub.ng in April 2021, operating from her self-contained space in Chevron, Lekki. Like any new business, Beautyhub.ng faced some initial challenges. The workspace was small and uncomfortable for customers, and there were issues with lighting that led to poor lash retention.
However, Gold Nne refused to give up and instead enrolled in further training to become certified in multiple semi-permanent makeup techniques. In 2022, Gold Nne’s hard work paid off, and she raised a substantial sum from her business. With the money, she moved to a larger space to cater to more customers and provide them with greater comfort.
Her impeccable customer service and long- lasting lash retention helped her business grow exponentially. Soon, people were referring Beautyhub.ng to everyone they knew. Today, Beautyhub.ng caters to over 200 clients monthly and has expanded its services to include painless microblading, pedicures, and nail fixing.
The feedback and support from customers have been overwhelmingly positive. Gold Nne is determined to make semi-permanent beauty procedures affordable for everyone while maintaining high-quality services that meet international standards. Her ultimate goal is to become the number one semi-permanent lash artist in Africa.
