GOVERNORSHIP candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ogun State, Mr. Gboyega Nasiru Isiaka (GNI), on Wednesday said he is poised to run his government with a good heart, strong passion and true love for the people that generation yet unborn would be proud of if elected into office as next governor of the state.
Isiaka gave the promise in Lagos at an interactive session he had with newsmen, assuring that he would ensure that his government strives to make a remarkable impact on the lives of people of Ogun State in areas, including education, health, job creation, roads, infrastructure, among others within just two years in office.
This was just as he disclosed that his administration was resolved to convoke a summit within first 30 days of assuming office to proffer solutions to the problems facing the sector in the state, lamenting that it was bad that the state had to slide to no 19 in WAEC out 36 states in the country.

“My commitment if elected as governor, come March this year is to run a government with a good heart, with a strong passion and a government with a true love for the people that even generation yet unborn would be proud of,” he said.
The governorship candidate, who expressed confidence in winning the March 9th election despite the incumbency power in the state, said the state of education in Ogun State was in shambles and, therefore, the need to focus on the sector as a key ingredient of human capital development as against erecting flyovers and bridges.
“In the first two years, and that is actually a very long time. The first thing is that we must be able to make a remarkable impact on education. Our education system is in shambles, it is really in shambles. And human capital development is the key to any development, it is not the flyovers, not the bridges, it is human capital development.
“And in my state and your state, we know where we are in terms of education and for us to have slid to a situation where Ogun State is no 19th in WAEC, definitely, something is wrong somewhere.
“If you see the state of our schools, you know in the state they are, I mean both primary and secondary schools, concerning the structures, you would also be asking yourself, what are we going to be able to achieve with all of these?
“So the first thing to do to be able to achieve this is to motivate the teachers, the teachers are the core of the education system. So for us to be able to do that, within the first 30 days, we are going to convey an education summit. And then we also want to be able to look at the curriculum and make it relevant to today’s world, and today’s world is world of entrepreneurship where people want to be able to come out and be able to do something on their own and we have to be able to look at our curriculum generally and do something positive about it,” he said.
Speaking further, Isiaka, while also decrying the poor state of roads and healthcare in the state, pointed out that majority of existing health facilities across the state were closed down due to lack of ability of the state government to provide electricity supply, water, among others, while those that were functioning were not more than 30 per cent.
“Let us make sure we open these up, the ones we have let us open them up,” he said, adding that this would be accomplished through direct partnership, among others to ensure that people have easy and affordable access to healthcare delivery in the state.
