Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurrun (FUPRE), Delta State, Prof. Rim-Rukeh Akpofure, has applauded the leadership of the Students Union Government (SUG) of the University for donation of Solar Powered Borehole to the institution to solve water-related problems.
FUPRE SUG President, Comrade Benjamin Okotie, in a statement on Friday, said the Solar-Powered Borehole Project was commissioned by “a visibly elated Vice Chancellor of the University Prof Rim-Rukeh Akpofure, who was beaming with smiles of a satisfied and proud father”.
According to the statement, Okotie, successfully initiated and completed the construction of the Solar Powered Borehole Water Project, as part of the delivery of his campaign promises made to the students of the University.
The SUG President said the project was a great feat recorded by the student community in Delta State, adding that the project, which was termed a special needs project, was carried out to showcase the multiple capacities of the Union and FUPRE students, who possess the innovation and energy to cause positive development.
He noted the project was done with maximum synergy and collaboration of the various leadership structures of the Union, including, Senator Okosun Aigboje Hope, Speaker of the FUPRE House of Assembly, and Justice Iroegbu Mishael Chika; Chief Justice of the Student Judiciary Council.
Alongside the FUPRE VC at the commissioning were Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Admin) Prof Doris Ogeleka, Registrar Dr (Mrs) Jane E Omoyine, Dean of Students Affairs Prof Chinelo Nwokolo, and Dean of College of Sciences Prof Ezekiel Agbalagba.
Others present were the Director of Works Mr Oreva, the Bursar Mr. Garba Nabayi, Pioneer Fupre SUG President and SA on Student Affairs to the governor of Delta State, Comr Obaro Egagifo, Fupre Alumni President, Comr Wilson Junior, and others, including students and staff of the University.
