In a historic development, the Governing Council of the Federal University Gusau (FUGUS), Zamfara State, has appointed Hajiya Nafisa Barau Suleiman as the institution’s third substantive Registrar.
According to a statement issued by Dr Linus Akor, Head of the Media and Communications Committee, the appointment was ratified during the Council’s 29th meeting held in Abuja from 22 to 25 April 2025.
Hajiya Suleiman, who holds a Master’s degree in English Language from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, becomes the first female Registrar of FUGUS since its establishment 12 years ago.

Before her confirmation, she had been serving as Acting Registrar following the completion of Malam Yakubu Anivbassa’s tenure in February. She brings a wealth of administrative experience to the position, having previously held key roles as Deputy Registrar and Faculty Officer.
The University Management has expressed confidence in her leadership capabilities and wished her Allah’s guidance as she assumes the prestigious role.
