THE Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC) has appealed to the Federal Government to increase funding of tertiary institutions to prevent them from dipping hands into Internally Generated Revenue.
The Director, Budget and Planning in the Commission, Mrs Amina Muhammed, made the appeal on Friday after inspecting three Federal Government institutions in Kano.
She said that although the commission was impressed with the progress of work in Kano generally, there was a need for more funding to enable the institutions to settle many financial issues.

According to her, in spite of the appeal, the institutions also need to put all their plans into their budget in order to be properly addressed so that no issue will be left out.
Muhammed, however, said that the commission was impressed with the ultra-modern prison in Kano, which she said was almost completed within one year.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Fiscal Responsibility Commission of the Presidency inspected the budgets and construction of facilities in three Federal Government agencies in Kano.
The institutions included Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Dala Orthopaedic Hospital and the new Ultra-modern Prison at Janguza in Kano.
