Foundation registers 1,000 Oyo students for JAMB exams

The Olamide Balikis Junaid Foundation has registered 1,000 students in the Ibadan North Local Government Area to sit for this year’s Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) exams.

The foundation’s founder, Dr Olamide Balikis Junaid, a House of Representatives aspirant in Ibadan North Federal Constituency under the All Progressive Congress (APC), said the step was to give opportunities to students willing to further their education but constrained by funds to fulfil their dreams in life.

Speaking in Ibadan while handing the scholarship to beneficiaries at a programme tagged “Olamide Balikis Junaid Foundation Edu-Support Initiative Free JAMB Forms,” Dr Junaid, represented by the Director General of the foundation, Abubakar Abdul, said it had always been part of her to reach out to the masses, even before she joined politics.

She added that the foundation has touched the lives of the less privileged and the needy across the nation, not just Oyo State.

Junaid encouraged the beneficiaries to see education as the pathway to success in life and contribute their quota to the nation’s development.

Appreciating the gesture of the foundation and its founder, Eniola Bankole, a beneficiary said, “I really appreciate Dr Junaid and the foundation for being a beneficiary of this initiative. I pray that God will continue to bless her in all endeavours because this has just opened the doors for me to further my education and I promise not to let her and my family down.

The APC chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Alhaji Taofeek Olaiwola, lauded the initiative, adding that she has proved to be a good steward and help to the helpless in society.

“Junaid has been doing this for a while now, not because she is vying for a position. I want to advise her not to relent in the good deed of her foundation; her chance of achieving her aspiration is getting brighter, and what she is doing for the masses will be in her favour when it’s time to pick the candidate,” he said.

The APC youth leader in Ibadan North Local Government, Aliu Babatunde, said that Junaid’s scholarship has alleviated the suffering of the beneficiaries, saying that youths in the party are entirely in her support.

Some beneficiaries commended Junaid’s gesture, saying the scholarship would greatly assist their educational pursuits.
