THE Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) Basic School, Maitama, Abuja, held its annual graduation ceremony last Saturday, celebrating the academic progress of 44 students promoted across key educational levels, from nursery to primary, primary to junior secondary and junior to senior secondary.
Speaking at the event, the FCT FOMWAN Amirah, Hajiya Fatima Isa Ndako, expressed gratitude to Allah, the parents, the teaching staff and every stakeholder for their support and commitment to the school’s mission.
She said: “We owe our progress to the tireless efforts of our teachers, the steadfast support of parents and, above all, to Almighty Allah. To our graduating students, be proud ambassadors of Islam wherever you find yourselves. Stay curious, disciplined and committed to excellence.”
The chairman of the Parents-Teachers Association (PTA), Alhaji Muhammad Ali, commended the teachers and organisers, highlighting the school’s evolving curriculum as a sign of growth.
He urged the community to remain proactive in addressing key challenges facing the school.
“Every institution faces its share of challenges. We must collectively work to complete ongoing infrastructure projects, equip our laboratories, and support character development among students. Parents must work hand in hand with teachers and management to raise children grounded in Islamic values,” the PTA chairman stated.
The National Amirah of FOMWAN, Hajiya Rofiah Sanni, noted that the organisation was founded in April 1985 following an international conference on women and development held in Kano, with a vision to promote Islamic education, empowerment, and humanitarian services for women and youth.
She highlighted the organisation’s five cardinal principles covering da’wah, education, health, humanitarian services and youth and women development.
The mother of the day, Professor Maryam Abdullahi, praised the efforts of the school’s teachers, management and the wider FOMWAN community for their dedication to nurturing a generation of morally upright and educated youths.
