First Baptist Church has called on Nigerians to pray for Nigeria and the new administration for the country to experience improvement.
The acting Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church, Garki, Area 11, Abuja, Rev. Tom Takpatore, made this known to newsmen on Sunday after a Thanksgiving service marking the end of the first half of the year 2023.
He said, “For the government, this new administration, one of the things we cannot stop doing is praying. The Bible commands us to pray for people in authority, and that is our responsibility. I trust God that things will get better.
“I know that many of us had expectations of crisis during the elections, but God helped us and brought us to this point. We need to be thankful to God,” he stated.
He further explained that the purpose of the service was to thank God for reaching the midpoint of the year and to ask God to open doors for individuals, families, the Church, and Nigeria as a whole to achieve total wholeness and wellness.
“It is the middle of the year, and God has been good to us as individuals, families, the Church, and as a nation, Nigeria. God has shown us kindness,” he continued.
“Thanksgiving is part of our lifestyle according to the Bible. It tells us to give thanks to God in all circumstances and to acknowledge that God is in charge and always does what is best for us.
“Thanksgiving opens doors for us and brings good things. I recall the Biblical story of the ten people healed from leprosy; when one of them came back to give thanks, Jesus told him, ‘Go, you are whole and well.’
Therefore, thanksgiving is a tool not only for total wholeness but also for wellness. Nigerians must give thanks to God for allowing us to see the end of the first half of the year. We trust God that we will see the end of the second half of the year in total wholeness and wellness as a people and as a nation,” he concluded.
