THE President of Ogun Baptist Conference, Rev (Dr) Wale Oyeniyi, has urged the Federal Government not to sleep over the release of Leah Sharibu from the Boko Haram captivity.
Oyeniyi expressed displeasure over the inability of the government in securing her release despite the fact that other girls abducted at Dapchi have regained their freedom and happily reunited with their families.
He commended the effort of government in ensuring that the girls were released, however, demanded the immediate and unconditional release of the young girl.
The cleric said this while addressing newsmen on the 42nd edition of Conference In Session of the Church holding from 10th to 14th August, at Baptist Church, Iyana Ilogbo area of the state.
“It is sad that the government, till today, is unable to negotiate the release of that singular girl. We noted that it is not a crime and cannot be a crime for somebody to be a believer in the Lord Jesus,” he added.

He also described as a disheartening unconfirmed report that Sharibu must have been killed by her captors.
Oyeniyi said, “We pray the recent information from another captive that Leah Sharibu might have been killed is far from the truth. Perhaps, this information is real, we will hold the FG responsible. That means the government has failed, but I pray that the news is untrue.”
The cleric also noted with dismay cases of kidnapping, ritual killings and unnecessary waste of lives and advised government at all levels to rise up to the occasion, by overhauling the nation’s security system.
On minimum wage, Reverend Oyeniyi, pleaded with the government to implement the payment to various categories of workers.
He advised the new administration in the state under the leadership of Prince Dapo Abiodun, to fast track the completion of all on-going projects spread across the state.
