The Federal Government is set to unveil the reconstruction of the Oyo/Ogbomoso highway as the new contractor, JRB Construction Company Limited, has moved equipment to the site.
The Federal Government has re-awarded the contract to JRB at a cost of ₦147.88 billion, following the termination of the initial contract awarded to RCC Construction Company Limited.
JRB, over the weekend, moved its equipment to the site in preparation for the construction works.
The contractor will work on the remaining 7-kilometre stretch within the Ogbomoso axis.
Some staff members of the company, who spoke on condition of anonymity, disclosed that they are awaiting the unveiling of the project, which is likely to take place in a few weeks.
According to them, the unveiling will be performed by the Minister of Works and Infrastructure, Engr Dave Umahi.
They said, “All is set for the commencement of the reconstruction works on the highway.
“We have moved the needed equipment to the site. What we are waiting for is the unveiling of the project.”
Meanwhile, motorists and other road users have expressed relief at the rescheduled commencement of the project.
It was disclosed that the deplorable condition of the road has caused untold hardship for both motorists and other road users.
Aside from the reported accidents on the highway, its poor condition has brought significant suffering to motorists and other road users.
