THE youth wing of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya Nigeria (MKAN), has emphasised the need for politicians to fear Allah and fulfill their campaign promises.
The National President of MKAN, Roqib Akinyemi, stated this in Akure, the Ondo State capital, at a press conference to herald the organisation’s 49th annual national convention (Ijtema), holding in Owo.
According to Akinyemi, leadership is about trust and politicians need to purge themselves of impure intentions as Allah will ask them about what was entrusted to them.
Akinyemi said the four-day convention holding between June 7 and June 10 at Ahmadiyya Grammar School, Owo, is aimed at deepening the participants’ knowledge of the theme, ‘Upholding the Institution of Khilafah through Activation of Nizam-e-Jama’at’, and inspire them to play an active role in its implementation within the Muslim community.
“A good understanding of this theme is critical to peace and harmony in our community and to our individual moral and spiritual success.
“The primary purpose of creation is to serve our Creator as the Holy Qur’an, 51 vs 57, states, ‘And I have not created the Jinn and the men, but they may worship Me’. It is also our responsibility to serve humanity and give back to our community,” he said.
Akinyemi said about 2,000 participants across 16 states are expected at the convention, which will offer free medical services and a public lecture.
He said “the 49th Annual MKAN Ijtema promises to be a memorable event, filled with a wide range of educational, sporting and intellectual activities.”
Akinyemi attributed the slow pace of Nigeria’s development to lack of fulfillment of promises by its successive leaders.
He said the “simple way” for developing nations to “get there is for the leaders to live by their promises” and do everything with “sincerity of purpose.”
He said: “President Bola Tinubu should live by the promises he made to Nigerians to move the nation forward.
“There must be justice at every point in time because when there is justice, there will be peace. If we want peace to reign in our society, there must be justice.
“The President must be committed to the development of this nation. He should engage the youths to move the country forward through their wisdom and knowledge.
