The Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, Moor Plantation, Ibadan, as part of activities to mark its 60th anniversary, celebrated personalities who have contributed greatly to the advancement of the nation at a grand ceremony tagged the Alumni Achievement Award.
Established on April 1, 1964, the college has been at the forefront of agricultural education and innovation, contributing significantly to Nigeria’s development in animal health and production technology. The 60th-anniversary event was a testament to the college’s commitment to excellence and its role in shaping the industry’s future.
The prestigious award was presented to Dr. Oladapo Adeyemi Agbato (DVM, MVPH) in recognition of his unwavering dedication, passion, and generosity, alongside his exceptional contributions to the field of animal husbandry and health at the Dr K. J Nwufoh Auditorium of the college.
Dr. Agbato, described as an esteemed alumnus of the college has been instrumental in advancing the practice of veterinary medicine and animal husbandry in the nation.
The institution said, “he is dedicated to poultry production, food safety, public health and microbiology, his passion for driving antimicrobial stewardship within local communities and veterinary practices is worthy of note. His career is marked by a series of achievements and contributions that have not only enriched the field but also inspired a new generation of professionals.”
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Agbato expressed gratitude to the college, his mentors and colleagues, emphasising the need for continued collaboration and knowledge-sharing to address the evolving challenges in animal husbandry, antimicrobial residue and resistance and food safety.
