An aide to Ayodele Fayose, former governor of Ekiti State, Lere Olayinka, has dismissed the reported recommendation for his principal’s expulsion from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State.
The caretaker committee chairman of the Ekiti PDP, Dare Adeleke, disclosed over the weekend that he had recommended Fayose’s expulsion to the party’s disciplinary committee and the National Working Committee.
In a statement on Monday, Olayinka described the development as “a political comedy by a committee of jesters,” criticizing Adeleke for his perceived self-importance.
He challenged the caretaker committee to follow through on the expulsion rather than just recommend it to the National Working Committee.
“What are they waiting for? They should just go ahead and expel Fayose from the party since they now have powers of life and death,” Olayinka stated, adding that the caretaker committee appears to have excessive authority over party matters.

Olayinka questioned if Fayose should be denied the right to make his own decisions, pointing out that Adeleke has publicly stated that his mission was to remove Fayose from the Ekiti PDP. He expressed confusion over the committee’s motives, stating, “So what exactly do they want from Fayose?”
He further noted the exclusion of Fayose and his supporters from the composition of the caretaker committee, asserting that they had not complained despite their exclusion from local government caretaker committees and meetings that claimed to have removed Fayose from the party.
Olayinka concluded with a rhetorical question, asking if Adeleke expected to control who Fayose associates with and how he behaves, emphasizing that blocking someone from a house does not prevent them from seeking hospitality elsewhere.
He suggested that if Adeleke’s mission was complete, he should focus on returning to his own region and let the people of Ekiti manage their affairs without interference.
