The Ekiti State Governor Dr Kayode Fayemi on Friday approved the sum of N24 million for the payment of West African Examinations Council (WAEC) administrative charges for 13,390 candidates in public secondary schools as part of the manifestations of his free education policy
The beneficiaries were the students of public schools, who will write April/May 2019 School candidates WAEC Examination.
Governor Fayemi said the step was taken to show how committed the government was to promote human capital in the state and alleviate poverty insisting that his government is committed to ensuring that no student of Ekiti origin dropped out of school for lack of sponsorship under his watch.

Fayemi who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mr. Ayodeji Ajayi, said the approved sum would cover both the administrative charges and other incidental expenses relating to the examination.
He warned that any school caught in examination malpractices would be punished accordingly, reminding the principals of the position of the state government on examination malpractice.
He said the Fayemi-led administration still had zero tolerance for examination malpractice and that the state won’t allow its school to be used as purveyors of examination fraud.
According to him “Vice Principals who have served for over twenty years would henceforth be engaged in supervision of Certificate Examinations in the State.”
“I hereby directed all school Principals in the state not to collect any money from any candidate who would be writing the examination”.
