THE family of Omobure family in  Akure South local government area of Ondo state, on Monday,  send a Save our Soul (SOS) message to both the state government and community leaders in Akure to intervene over the seizure and closure of their multi million Naira Shopping Complex.

The family alleged that the traditional ruler of Akure, Oba Aladelusi Aladetoyinbo, ordered the seizure and closure of the Shopping complex at Erekesan market located opposite his palace.

Already the aides to the Oba have traditionally sealed off the Shopping Complex with Palm fronts and leaves, preventing owners of shops to gain access to the complex.

Speaking on behalf of the family, High Chief Micheal Omole, said the action of the traditional ruler came to the family as a surprise, saying there was no prior notification before the Shopping complex was closed down by the monarch aides.

He explained that Oba Aladetoyinbo invited the family to a meeting in March where he directed the head of the family to present documents in respect of the ownership of the structure which was subsequently presented to him by the family’s developer.

He however expressed surprise over the closure of the shops at the Shopping complex after meeting with the monarch saying there was no infighting within the family members to warrant the impromptu closure of their property.

He said “we are defendant of Ojijijogun through our great grandmother who was the first born and first daughter of Ojijijogun who willed the property to her sons

There was no rift over the land but we don’t know the reasons behind it’s the lock up and closure. Traders have been deprived to carry out their lawful business

“We are the owner of the land from immemorial, we have all the documents that backed our ownership of the land. We are calling on the state government and Akure community leaders to quickly intervene because we are peace loving people and will not want anything to disrupt the peace of the land.”

However, the Chief Press Secretary to the monarch, Michael Adeyeye, however denied the allegation of taking over the land and the structure but said part of the building was built on Deji’s land.

He confirmed that the land actually belong to the Omobure family and explained that Oba Aladetoyinbo had invited the family to present the document of the land.

He however said the Shopping complex has been reopened on the order of the monarch for peace to reign saying the monarch being an architect was able to detect that the family has intrude into the Deji’s land.
