Family of four found dead in Borno community

A family of four has been found dead under mysterious circumstances in Chatta village, Hawul Local Government Area of Borno State, sparking concern and speculation among residents.

The deceased were identified as Yakubu Samanja, his wife, Esther Yakubu, and their two children, Amos and Maryamu Yakubu.

The tragic discovery was made early Tuesday morning by a relative, Ibrahim Samanja, who said he became alarmed after repeated attempts to contact the family failed.

“I came around 7 a.m. to visit them,” he told journalists. “After knocking several times with no response, I forced the door open and found them all dead inside the room.”

According to Zagazola Makama, a security analyst reporting on the incident, the family had not shown any signs of illness or distress prior to their deaths.

A combined team of police and medical personnel later arrived at the scene and confirmed the four victims dead. Their remains were evacuated to the General Hospital in Marama, where they were deposited for preservation and autopsy.

While initial checks revealed no signs of physical violence, residents suspect carbon monoxide poisoning from a generator or food-related poisoning as possible causes.

“This is tragic. We are all in shock and waiting for answers,” said a resident who asked not to be named.

As of the time of filing this report, the Borno State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement. However, authorities said investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of death.
