Union body of workers in Kebbi State under the umbrella of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Medical and Health Workers Union (MHWU) and the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), on Friday, jointly appealed to the state government to extend payment of the minimum wage by two weeks to allowed them perfects a new salary structure for the state workers.
The state union executives made the appeal at a joint press conference.
“The approval for N75,000 new minimum wage implementation and subsequent 72 hours given by His Excellency for its implementation, is a very welcome idea.
“After due consultations, the three Unions in the State Local Government service unanimously observed that we require time to ensure that all our members are captured in the payment exercise to minimize human error which cannot be achieved within the time frame giving by the Governor.
“In view of foregoing, we are therefore appealing to His Excellency to extend the time frame for a period if not less than two weeks for the completion of the exercise. His Excellency may also wish to direct the release of October Salary to our member to avoid unnecessary hardship,” They said.
