The National Grid is trending on X following reports of a power disturbance across parts of Nigeria.
While many initially feared a total collapse, authorities have clarified that it was only a disruption.
Confirming the situation, the National Grid issued a statement on X:
“There was a ‘GRID DISTURBANCE’ before noon today. Parts of the country experienced an outage. Further information shortly.”
Meanwhile, this is the second time in 2025 that the grid has experienced a “non-collapse.”
The first incident occurred on January 11, when power output dropped from 2,111.01MW to 390.20MW.
