Exhibit good conduct, FUNAAB VC charges newly admitted students

THE outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Professor Olusola Oyewole, has charged the 3,900 newly admitted students of the institution to be of good conduct throughout their stay in the citadel of learning.

Oyewole stated this in his address at the 2016/2017 matriculation ceremony, held over the weekend, that good ethics and values would guarantee their successful studentship, which would make them better citizens of the nation in future.

The VC said that all credentials presented by the matriculants for admission would be verified with the examining bodies and that any student found with falsified credentials would be expelled.

He added that anyone of them culpable of any act of indiscipline would be sanctioned accordingly, while advising them to report any case of harassment and undue pressure from any quarters to the school authority.

The VC warned them against vandalisation of university facilities stressing that “academic freedom does not translate to academic lawlessness.”

Oyewole explained that 96 per cent of the academic programmes of the institution had full accreditation while the remaining four had interim accreditation, just as he promised that the programmes with interim accreditation would be visited this month.

He also warned the new students against indecent dressing on campus.

“This University will not tolerate any form of immoral and provocative mode of dressing on campus. For the male students, sagging of trousers and weird haircuts would not be tolerated.

“Do not dress irresponsibly, always dress the way you want to be addressed,” he said further.

He equally urged the parents and guardians of the students to take keen interest in the activities of their wards.
