FORMER member of the National Assembly, Senator Adegbenga Kaka, has declared his interest to contest for the governorship race in Ogun State in 2019.
He stated this on Monday at a press conference held at the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), secretariat, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, said he was eminently qualified for the position, saying he was committed to service and a good life for the citizens.
Kaka who was also former deputy governor of the state during the administration of Chief Olusegun Osoba noted that the state at this point in time needed quality leadership.
He explained further that the art of politics should not be left in the hands’ politicians alone, but one that requires the collective effort of all.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain submitted that he was not aware of any zoning done by the leadership of the party as regards which of the three senatorial district to produce the governor of the State.
He lauded the leadership of the party in Osun State for adopting open primaries in selecting the party’s flagbearer for the September election.
“The issue of gubernatorial in a state is the ultimate trophy. It is nothing that can be done in the comfort of anybody’s bedroom. All stakeholders in the party should be collectively involved. The party should not make any group feel inferior. All indigenes of the state are all endowed.

“I am not aware of any zoning done by the party more so, that the guideline for the election has not been released.
“Where there is no justice we can never experience peace and where we don’t have peace, there will be no unity. Where we don’t have unity, there can be no peace. So, we’ve seen what happened in Osun, not that a group of people would claim to have the mandate of the generality to go and take a decision on their behalf,” he added.
Kaka commended the Ibikunle Amosun -led administration for the success recorded in the area of infrastructural development, insisting that there are more to be done in other areas, promising that his government, if voted into power, would complete all uncompleted projects.
