YOUTHS of Egbema and Gbaramatu kingdoms in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State have been urged to eschew violence in pursuit of their rights and privileges from multinational oil companies and governments.
Ahead of the 2019 general elections, Ijaw youths have also been admonished to shun the temptation of being used as instruments of violence.
Executive Chairman of Egbema Gbaramatu Communities Development Foundation (EGCDF), Comrade Jude Ukori, made the appeal at a three-day inauguration of projects executed under Chevron Nigeria Ltd (CNL) NNPC JV Global Memorandum of Understanding (GMoU) at Opuama, headquarters of Egbema kingdom.
“I wish to reiterate my call for peace and harmony, which are tools to attract development to our areas.

“I also, passionately, advise the youths of Egbema and Gbaramatu kingdoms to eschew violence in pursuit of their rights and privileges,” he pleaded.
On the coming general elections, Comrade Ukori admonished his fellow Ijaw youths to “shun every temptation to be used as political violence, rather let us take advantage of our voting rights and power to negotiate and bargain with politicians to development to out areas.”
Comrade Ukori, however, called on the state and federal governments to collaborate with EGCDF and other stakeholders to urgently fast-track development in communities of the two kingdoms.
TribuneOnline reports that 10 rooms guest houses each at Ogbinbiri and Akekoromo Zion, as well as 500 and 150 meters access walkways at Opuama, all in Egbema kingdom, were inaugurated by officials of CNL last week Wednesday.
