The highly-rated United States of America Emmys Awards ceremony has been officially postponed by nearly four months.
The postponement of the 75th edition of the Awards by the organisers became inevitable due to a series of strike actions by Hollywood actors and writers.
According to CBS News, the Emmy Awards, which rewards excellence in the television industry, was initially scheduled to be broadcast on Fox on September 18 after the nominees for the television’s greatest accolades were revealed in July, just before the strike was launched.Â
However, the Awards ceremony has now been rescheduled to January 15, 2024, in order to provide ample time for the involved parties to find common ground and resolve their disputes.Â
Hollywood actors joined film and television writers in the strike last month after negotiations between the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and major studios broke down.
This marks the first strike by both the writers’ and actors’ unions since 1960. This effectively suspended the production of scripted television shows and films, affecting businesses throughout the entertainment world’s orbit.
Leading the Emmy nominations for television are the HBO drama “Succession,” which portrays a family’s vicious battle for control of a media empire, and the rival HBO series “The Last of Us,” a dystopian video game adaptation.
Although, attempts have been made to initiate conversations between writers, actors, and studios, as of yet, no solid results have materialized.
