Eleven persons kidnapped were on Sunday evening rescued by police operatives in Delta State.
The victims were reportedly abducted at the Isoko Development Union Roundabout in Oleh, headquarters of Isoko South Local Government Area of the state.
Reports say the hoodlums struck at the highway around 8:00 pm and shoot sporadically to scare away would-be challengers before abducting them.
A relative of one of the victims who craved anonymity confirmed the development to journalists.
She disclosed that during the incident, many others escaped into nearby bushes, adding that some sustained gunshot injuries.
“She (the victim) left my house for Ozoro yesterday (Sunday) evening. Thank God they managed to escape through the bushes around.
“Though some others were not too lucky to escape as bullets hit some and others were taken away. She returned to my house last night without slippers,” she told journalists on Monday.
Meanwhile, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta Command, DSP Bright Edafe, said the eleven abducted persons were promptly rescued by operatives of the command.
“That incident occurred in Oleh around IDU Roundabout. They were actually kidnapped, but due to the prompt response of our men, about eleven of them were all rescued alive and unhurt.
“One person was shot, but that person was rescued and is currently receiving treatment,” the PPRO stated.
