Herd of elephants who might have escaped from one of the Ogun State Government Reserve, have killed a farmer, identified as Musa Kalamu, at Onitasin Imobi, in Ijebu East Local Government Area of the state.
This unfortunate development was confirmed to newsmen by the State Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo and the State Commissioner for Forestry, Mr Taiwo Oludotun.
Ogunlowo said information about the incident was received by the Divisional Police Officer, in Ogbere, at about 1620hrs on Monday.

He said, “The DPO Ogbere received information from Itasin community on 28/07/2025 at about 1620hrs that elephants escaped from government reserve and attacked one Musa Kalamu who died on the way to the hospital.
“Officers of Ogun State Forestry were contacted to curtail the animals from further damage.Calm has returned to the community”.
The Commissioner for Forestry said the Ministry officials are aware of the incident and already on their way to the community.
The lifeless body of the victim of the wandering elephants attack was seen in a video that has since gone viral.
Sobbing locals in the video identified the late farmer as Kala, and appealed to the state government to save their lives from further attacks.
